Tour Schedule

You will be picked up from your hotel early in the morning and driven along the scenic coastal road towards Shimoni village, a historic fishing village near the Tanzanian border. The drive offers glimpses of local life, coconut palms, and the beautiful southern coastline. Upon arrival at Shimoni, you will meet the local boat crew and marine park guides. After a short briefing about the day’s activities and safety, board a traditional wooden Arab dhow and begin sailing toward Kisite Marine Park. Life jackets and snorkeling gear are provided.

As the dhow cruises across the turquoise waters, there is a high chance of spotting wild dolphins, which are commonly seen in this area. The crew slows down to allow you to enjoy this magical wildlife encounter from a respectful distance. The dhow will anchor in a prime snorkelling zone within the marine park. You will then enter the warm, shallow waters accompanied by experienced guides. Beneath the surface, discover a thriving underwater world filled with coral gardens, starfish, sea urchins, and schools of brightly colored reef fish. The calm conditions make this suitable even for first-time snorkelers. (Guests who prefer to stay on the boat can relax on deck, soak up the sun, and enjoy the stunning ocean views.)

After snorkelling, the dhow will then sail to Wasini Island, a small coral island known for its Swahili culture and laid-back atmosphere. The sailing portion is peaceful and scenic, with ocean breezes and panoramic views. You will be welcomed at a local restaurant for a freshly prepared Swahili-style lunch, typically including seafood dishes such as grilled fish, prawns, coconut rice, chapati, and flavorful coastal sauces. Vegetarian options are available on request. Fresh tropical fruits and refreshments are served after the meal.

After lunch, you may take a short guided walk through Wasini village, where you can learn about local traditions, coral rag architecture, and island life. This offers a cultural touch to the marine adventure. Later, board the dhow once more for a relaxed sail back to Shimoni. This is a great time to unwind, enjoy the sea breeze, and take photos of the coastline. Upon arrival in Shimoni, our driver will meet you and transfer you back to your hotel, arriving in the late afternoon with unforgettable memories of Kenya’s underwater paradise.
